Rutgers’s Phlebotomy Robot also Does Testing

Over the past year, Rutgers University engineers have put together three existing technologies to automate phlebotomy and blood testing: i.e. near infrared and ultrasound imaging to locate a vein; robotic vein puncture to draw blood, and a centrifuge blood analyzer and microfluidics device for immediate testing. This suggests that it should be possible for physicians to have lab capability in a point-of-care setting. MORE
