Computing a Diagnosis-Ask Watson

Any of us interested in medical automation who also saw IBM’s supercomputer challenge two human savants on Jeopardy, must have had the same thought-why couldn’t “Watson” be tasked with at least diagnosis triaging. We are not alone, as both Columbia University Medical Center and the University of Maryland School of Medicine have been enlisted to see how super-computation can be used to support clinical decision-making.
