FCC Report: Evaluation of Rural Health Care Pilot Program
November 18, 2012 | Terry Sharrer
The Federal Communications Commission has been making pilot study grants for several years to test the best way of improving health care in rural areas. This 98 page downloadable report summarizes experiences in several states, with some interesting findings—e.g., most health care providers don’t have the technical expertise to manage broadband networks and do not want to own such facilities. Rather, they purchase broadband services from third parties. How ever they do it though, this report finds that telemedicine in rural areas improves care, cuts costs, and upholds quality. MORE
