Paul Allen is gone, but his School of Electrical and Computer Engineering lives on at the University of Washington. This piece reports on developments there that embed two antennas into 3-D printed objects such as pill bottles, prosthetics and insulin pens which can detect bidirectional movements for signaling (e.g. when a pill bottle has opened and closed) without requiring battery power.
