Virtual Visits for Hypertension Care.

Hypertension is the reason for about 39 million doctor’s visits a year in the US. During a visit, the physician looks at past blood pressure measurements, checks on the patient’s medication adherence, inquiries about side effects, and asks if there are any questions. What’s less than straight forward about this scenario is how long it takes to get an office appointment. Wondering about these clinicians at Massachusetts General Hospital who ran a test rating actual office visits to virtual ones (i.e. telemedicine). What they found was that there was no difference between real and virtual in hypertension management. MGH is now using virtual visits to monitor 65 different medical conditions. MORE
