Nanoparticles to Prevent Transplanted Organ Rejection
September 26, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Preventing organ rejection because of an immune response to a transplant remains a major challenge. Yale University researchers, however, have made a step toward improvement with negatively charged polymer nanoparticles coated with positively charged small interfering RNA’s. It was known that the siRNAs could silence the HLA proteins, but the coated nanoparticle delivery has a sustained effect which delays and lessens rejection (at least in the mouse studies). MORE
