In a clinical trial involving 45 people with vision loss due to glaucoma or anterior ischemic optical neuropathy, German scientists were able to “re-synchronize” the ganglion cells in the retina and brain neurons, significantly improving vision immediately and over several months. The technique involved placing electrodes on the face, near the eyes, and applying alternative current in ten applications of about 50 minutes each, over two weeks. This resulted in a 24% improvement in visual field perception. MORE
