3-D Printing Teeth, Gum and Bone

Printed teeth have been done before, as has a printed mandible, but researchers at Griffith University’s Menzies Health Institute (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) have gone a step further and 3-D printed an upper jaw bone and gums into which artificial teeth can be set and for a complete replacement. This piece notes the importance of temperature control during the printing process so the living cells don’t get “cooked.” MORE
