An Injectable Tissue Patch

Rather than repair heart damage using open chest surgery, engineers at the University of Toronto have created an injectable tissue patch that is delivered endoscopically. The patch, which is smaller than a postage stamp, is made of a polymer scaffold with cells attached. Once inserted into the heart, it deploys to cover the injured area and begin tissue regeneration.
