Wearable Vest Locates Aberrant Heart Beats

Heart patients with transient arrhythmias present a problem for diagnosis: if they do not have an arrhythmia when undergoing a CT scan, it is difficult to pinpoint the location of problematic cells for ablation. Medtronic, however, has a newly FDA approved solution—a wearable vest with 250 electrodes that can be worn continuous until an arrhythmia occurs. This device, called “CardioInsight” uses computation to non-invasively map the proper location for surgical intervention. MORE
