Out-of-the-Box Implantable Xenografts

Animal tissues can be cleaned and engineered to provide implantable xerographs for such surgical needs as hernia repairs, abdominal wall reconstruction, and orthopedic membrane fixes. In this genre, Colorado Therapeutics (Broomfield, CO) has developed a cross-linked matrix, combining pericardium and dermis tissues, which is packaged in dry form for implantation. It requires no additional preparation or rehydration and supports vascular growth. The FDA has recently approved this tissue. MORE
