Light-Activated Chemotherapy

Photostatins are molecules that respond to blue light by changing their shape. Knowing this, chemists at Ludwig-Maximillans University in Munich have showed that by incorporating these molecules into existing anticancer drugs (which target microtubes during cell proliferation) they can locally light-activate those drugs without harming normal tissue.
