Glioblastoma multiforma is one of the deadliest forms of cancer. And, it has proven tenaciously resistant to every form of treatment, from neurosurgery to gene therapy, chemotherapy, et al. The latest strategy comes from Tel Aviv University where oncologists are doing animal tests with lipid-based nanoparticles of interfering RNA molecules, coated with a polysugar that binds selectively to a glioma receptor. Thus far, the researchers have shown considerable success in shutting down malignant cell proliferation. MORE
