From skull plates and mandible to bone implants and vertebrae, 3-D printing is becoming the go-to choice in resolving many kinds of skeletal degeneration and traumas. This piece, from Australia, describes a 3-D printed titanium calcaneus (heel bone) that was printed and implanted in a 71 year old patient who had lost that tissue to cancer.
