Pressure Sensor for the Bladder

Bladder Sensor Chip
Bladder pressure can be, at the least, uncomfortable, but for patients who have nerve dysfunction, bladder pressure can cause kidney damage and be life threatening. The usual catheter resolution is troublesome; so, engineers at Norway’s SINTEF (Trondheim; Scandinavia’s largest independent research facility) have developed a tiny pressure sensor that can be implanted by needle into the bladder. The current version is wired; wireless is the next step, with data transmitted to a smart phone. Presumably, something like this could be developed for hydrocephalus too. MORE
