In late January, surgeons at the University of Michigan, for the first time, implanted an artificial endovascular stent graft using an endoscopic device. Thus, the surgery involved a small opening in the groin through which guide wires moved the stent into place. This is another illustration of the movement away from invasive to less invasive (toward non invasive) which holds profound implications for hospital vs. stand alone outpatient clinics. MORE
