Organic thin film transistors are dramatically changing the design and development of medical devices, and here is an example of that. Engineers at Johns Hopkins have created an OTFT that can detect glial fibrillary acidic protein from a drop of a patient’s blood. This is a biomarker for brain injury that heart surgery can trigger, especially in both pediatric and adult cases involving hypertension. MORE
