Kidney Function Analysis via Smartphone

Nano engineers at UCLA have developed a device that attaches to a smartphone for measuring albumin in urine which may indicate conditions related to diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Fluorescent light compares a control sample with a given specimen and after the test, the associated app sends the data to a monitoring station. The engineers suppose such an attachment would cost between $50 and $100. MORE
