“Breathprints” in Personalized Medicine

It may come to be called “breathomics”—an individual’s stable and specific breathprint. Swiss researchers, in mass spectroscopy analyses of eleven people over eleven days, found that while chemical variation existed in each person’s exhaled air, a stable core breathprint made it possible to identify each participant in the study. Further work may show chemical profiles that are consistent with diseases. MORE
