Smartphone Spirometer for Lung Health

Based on sound waves during breathing, engineers at the University of Washington have shown that a smartphone’s microphone can transmit an asthmatic’s lung capacity. Someone making a “Spiro Call” would simply exhale into the phone and a software program at the receiving end would analyze the sound waves. See the video in this piece. MORE
