Using a graphene mesh (carbon atoms arranged in an hexagonal pattern and only one atom thick), scientists at Aix-Marseille University applied singular optics microscopy to analyze the electron vibrations (plasmonics) of different molecules, thereby identifying those molecules very quickly. They believe this could be a highly effective way of screening for illegal drugs, viruses, and dangerous chemicals. MORE
