Deep brain stimulation has already proved its effectiveness with Parkinson’s disease patients, but in a multicenter clinical trial of 40 patients this year, neurosurgeons will implant a low voltage pacemaker-like device with the intent of increasing memory and reversing cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s patients.  Earlier results showed that the device increased glucose metabolism in the brain which helped both PD and AD patients.      MORE
