Deep brain stimulation has already proved its effectiveness with Parkinson’s disease patients, but in a multicenter clinical trial of 40 patients this year, neurosurgeons will implant a low voltage pacemaker-like device with the intent of increasing memory and reversing cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s patients.
