New Medical Smart Phone
September 25, 2012 | Terry Sharrer
LifeWatch, AG (Rheinfall, Switzerland; US hq’s, Rosemont, IL) claims to have the first medical smart phone. That may be an exaggerated claim, but its phone does have monitors for heart rate, pulmonary function, blood sugar, body temperature, and, with a sleeve attachment, blood pressure. It also has built in apps for nutrition management, a pedometer, a medication reminder, and like other smart phones, can download an enormous number of medical and wellness apps. Once it receives USFDA approval, LifeWatch expects to operate three call centers in the US to handle its data tracking and reporting. MORE
