NRL Lab for Autonomous Systems

Earlier this year, the U. S. Naval Research Laboratory opened its Laboratory for Autonomous Systems—the scope of which this piece describes. It does not mention any specific healthcare project, but creating autonomous systems is theoretically as applicable to an 800 bed hospital as to a Nimitz class aircraft carrier (both having about a 6,000 person “crew”). What the Navy does regarding sensor systems, power and energy systems, human-system interactions, networking and communications could show the way for a hospital of the future. MORE
