Sony, Panasonic, Olympus—Healthcare?

It’s curious that three of the biggest names in consumer products—Sony, Panasonic, and Olympus—are considering medical imaging as their next targeted business sector. Apparently, this is because both American (Apple) and Korean (Samsung) manufacturers are taking larger shares of markets the Japanese once dominated. But imaging? Do they believe Toshiba, Philips, Siemens and GE are competitive pushovers? If, on the other hand, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus focus on consumer medical devices, then it’s a worldwide “game on.” MORE
