Custom-made knee prosthetics—fabricated with a computerized milling machine following dimensions from a CT scan—have existed for a few years now, but a British company, Stanmore Implants (Elstree, Hertfordshire) has developed a surgical robot to implant custom prosthetics. The advantages over whole knee replacement are less blood loss, reduced risk of infection and faster rehabilitation. MORE
