Making Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering
April 3, 2012 | Terry Sharrer
Biochemical engineers at Northwestern University have developed a new method for fabricating scaffolds on which they can grow new tissues. The process involves a foam of ceramic nanoparticles and elastic polymers processed under high heat in a vacuum. This creates uniform pores to which cells can adhere and grow into, say, new bone or cartilage. MORE
