Most of the attention in regenerative medicine has gone to stem cell strategies, but investigators at Weill Cornell have identified “angiocrine factors” in the endothelial cells that line blood vessels in the lungs that “turn on” growth of alveoli. At least, this is what they have found in mice, but such discoveries in animal studies often lead to human applications. MORE
