KEEN: “Engineery” Today

“Engineering” derives from the Latin, and comes into Middle English around 1325. It originally applied to building military “engines,” but by the end of the 18th century, there were enough engines of all sorts to coin “engineery” which meant the science of engineering as we’ve come to think of engineering problem solutions today. To promote undergraduate technical education with an additive business development sense, the Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) has created a cohort of 21 universities which aim to hybridize the science of engineering with new ways of translating technology into economic betterment for workers, businesses and consumers alike.
