Telehealth: Diabetes Tracking

Recently, a study group at the University of Maryland reported that their test of automated real time education and behavioral messaging in response to diabetics reporting their daily glycated hemoglobin values resulted in a 1.2% decrease in those values over a year compared to a control group without that reporting and coaching. While there were only 163 people in this study, a greater than one percent improvement in glucose management very likely represented several thousands of dollars to those who had the benefit of the electronic support.
