Robots that Simulate Disease

This may be the ultimate medical simulation to date. Kaiser Permanente in Ohio has installed a simulation facility that includes an emergency department, clinical decision unit, and exam room, in which six high tech robots are capable of mimicking breathing, bleeding, sweating, sneezing, blinking and giving birth. These robotic patients represent males and females from neonates to adult, and can be programmed to present diseases that often are difficult to diagnose. MORE
