Electronic medical records have not been developed to support clinical research, but a group of major pharmas and thirteen hospital systems in New York State are working on common terminologies, protocol modeling and patient selection services that would allow a data mining program to wrap around EMR’s for research purposes.  This site has the downloadable 38-page document “Transforming and Improving Clinical Research in New York State to Benefit Patients” which outlines the partners thinking so far.  MORE
