Besides sleep assessment, as described in the previous story, sensors that can measure slight changes in respiration might be applied to breathing failures, such as with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or automobile drivers falling asleep at the wheel. For these applications, researchers at the Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork (Cork, Ireland) have created a microchip that works from ultra-wide-band pulse radar technology.
