Cleveland Clinic and MedStar’s Innovation Collaboration
February 1, 2011 | Terry Sharrer
Cleveland Clinic Innovations (the Clinic’s new technology development group) and MedStar’s Institute for Innovation have started a three year collaboration to create medical inventions and bring them to market. Over the past decade, CC Innovations has licensed more than 250 technologies and started 35 companies. MedStar, which operates nine hospitals in the Washington, DC-Maryland region, started its Institute for Innovation in 2009 under Dr. Mark Smith (who spoke at our Medical Automation Conference in 2007). Smith created the EMR that became Microsoft’s healthcare flagship product “Amalga.” CC Innovations will place two or three staff members at MedStar’s facilities. MORE
