Fiberoptic Neurophotonics

Under a $5.6m DARPA grant, researchers at Southern Methodist University’s Neurophotonics Research Center are developing fiber optic threads that connect prosthetics to the central nervous system.  In effect, this allows artificial limbs to convey the sense of touch.
