The dentist’s drill could go the way of the buggy whip if a new gel material used in bone regeneration works as well on teeth. French scientists exposed human dental pulp fibroblasts to a gel made of polyglutamic acid and melanocyte-stimulating hormone, and observed the cells producing collagen and proliferating. This is the first study showing a biomaterial that is capable of endodontic regeneration. MORE
