Roche and IBM Nanopore Sequencing Genomes for $1000 or Less
August 24, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
Roche is picking up on IBM’s development of nanopore sequencing, which streams DNA through a nanopore of a silicon chip and determines the A, T, C, G sequence based on weight and charge. This collaboration may put the sub-$1,000 genome sequence within reach. This report from Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News also mentions the Genomic Cancer Care Alliance-a collaboration of Fox Chase Center Center, Scripps Genomic Medicine, TGEN, and US Oncology.
