Decatur, AL Robotics Technology Park and New Motoman Robotics Facility in Dayton, OH
In three phases, the State of Alabama is supporting development of a Robotics Technology Park in Decatur. The first section (a 68,000 square foot maintenance and training center) is scheduled to open next month; phase two (started in June) will bring a 30,000 square foot advanced R&D facility; and phase three (not yet scheduled) holds and integration and entrepreneurial center. It looks like their main clients will be NASA and the DOD, but the intent is to make Alabama the nation’s leader in all robotic R&D. Meanwhile, Motoman Robotics (Dayton, OH), a division of the world’s largest maker of industrial robots Yaskawa Electric Corporation (Kitakyushu, Japan), announced its plan to build a 500,000 square for Motoman Robotics’ North Amercian Headquarters near Dayton, OH.
