Stem Cell Therapy for Stroke Approved

Last month, The Financial Times reported that the UK Gene Therapy Advisory Committee has approved the world’s first stem cell therapy for stroke. ReNeuron (Guildford, Surrey) will conduct the trial using neural stem cells from human abortuses on fifteen stroke victims in Scotland. The company was unable to gain FDA approval for this approach in the US; so, it found a more receptive venue. MORE
