myHalo Fall Monitor
January 12, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
Subscription-based medial e-monitoring has been around since at least 1974 when Dr. Andrew Dibner founded Lifeline-using a wearable pendant that can call for help. Another product in this genre is myHalo (Huntsville, AL). It consists of a rechargeable transmitter that is worn with a strap around the chest. The sensor sends heart rate and temperature data, along with movement (from an accelerometer), to a “home gateway” router, which in turn forwards that information over a phone or cable line to a $65/month monitoring and alarm service.
