ICU in a Suitcase

Integrated Medical Systems, Inc. (Birmingham, AL) recently received $3.25 m from the US Army’s Medical Research and Material Command to field test an “ICU in a suitcase.” This device combines monitoring of ECG, BP, temperature, blood oxygen, and heart rate, while operating infusion pumps, a fluid warmer, and a ventilator, from hot-swappable battery power or an electrical plug. Apparently, this does not yet have wireless capability, but a USB flash drive allows data transfer. MORE
