Robot That Makes Snowflakes
May 19, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, which closed on May 17 in Kobe Japan, featured all kinds of novel applications, including one designed to climb trees, another to pick up empty coffee cups in a room, and another that places ice in a pattern of a snowflake. Particularly interesting was the design “challenge” where engineers were given an environment with certain obstacles to be overcome. It may take a little imagination to see how these robots might be used in healthcare, but imagination is what these robot-makers are all about. SEE
