Researchers at the Imperial College, London and their commercial spin-out, DNA Electronics, have devised a handheld instrument that does a quick and cheap check for single nucleotide polymorphisms that are implicated in a person’s metabolic rate. They anticipate using this to distinguish fast from slow metabolizers of prescription drugs to help with make dosing more accurate. Pfizer funded development of this device. MORE
