Global Center for Telemedicine

Reuters reported last month on the dramatic rise of telemedicine services in Bangalore, India. With western educated doctors, telemedicine infrastructure, low costs, and a time difference that allows work to be done there during the American night, Bangalore already has several teleradiology firms reading X-ray, MRI and CT images-typically at a cost 35% less than US prices. Other companies are setting up to read digital pathology scans, ECG’s and EKG’s. As telemedicine advocates argue, it’s not the distance but the quality of the doctor doing the work. SEE
