The Kerrin Rennie Award in Medical Technology, given at the Medical Technology Association of Australia meeting in Sydney last month went to Masimo Corporation’s advanced pulse oximeter, the “Radical-7 Pulse CO-Oximeter,” which relies on a multiple wavelengths of light to determine blood constituents.  Runners up included an eye shunt that drains fluid from glaucoma sufferers’ eyes, and a protein permeable membrane that removed light chain antibody fragments from the blood of multiple myeloma patients.  MORE
