Artificial DNA Used to Make Enzymes

Here’s an interesting thought: “Life’s ‘choice’ of RNA and DNA may just be an accident of prehistoric chemistry.” That’s the observation from researchers at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge University after they demonstrated how they could fabricate artificial DNA (i.e. “XNA”) and have it produce enzymes (i.e. “XNAzymes”) that do not exist in nature. Further, these artificial enzymes cut and paste pieces of RNA as happens naturally. MORE
