Why Aren’t Identical Twins Identical?

Nature vs. nurture is often the debate about twins. It fascinated Francis Galton in the 19th century, Walter Jablonski in the early 20th, and researchers all over the world, especially psychologists and behavioral scientists, who focused on monozygotic twins who were separated at birth and raised in distant families. But geneticists now realize mutations occur even while twins are in the womb, which doesn’t exactly negate the concept of “identical,” though it does suggest some caution in drawing conclusions about that term.
