Cerenkov Luminescence Imaging Identifies Surgical Margins
December 15, 2020 | Terry Sharrer
Cerenkov luminescence is a phenomenon Russian physicist Pavel Cherenkov first observed in 1934 (Nobel Prize in 1958). It results from a radionuclide traveling faster than the speed of light in a particular medium, and has been useful in medical imaging with PET isotopes. This piece describes how CL reveals surgical margins in radical prostatectomies. MORE
