This is the “significance statement” about infusing autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells in 25 patients who suffered ischemic stroke: “This work provides foundational evidence for safety and feasibility of using patients’ own bone marrow cells to enhance recovery after ischemic stroke.” Originally, the trial was to enroll 30 patients, but the first 25 were successful enough to end the study at that point.
