Remarkable Regeneration: the Bladder

The bladder has remarkable, if not unique, capabilities to regenerate after injury or disease. In animal studies, veterinarians at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have shown that bladder regeneration does not solely depend on that tissue’s own progenitor cells but elicits assistance from epithelial cells of the Wolffian duct which normally supports the ejaculation of sperm.
